Smells like Imperial Spirit!

Not Scouts, actually, but New Zealand schoolboys, apparently, from an American blogger visiting the country last year!

Nice to think of Commonwealth countries still retaining some of B-P's "shorts and shirtsleeves" Empire spirit!

This blog is "a bit of a hoot". I'm not sure why - but this picture reminds of the time my friend "invited" me to smell his school socks. He had worn them for over a week and, as I smelt them, he was still wearing them. It sure be bizarre the things we do at school. Not so much The Imperial Spirit, more like The Incredible Reek. Anyway, if you would really like me to smell your socks today (perhaps you'd like to smell mine) just let me know and I'm sure we can arrange it. For you'd be very surprised - how old habits never die.

Er, I'm sure there are websites out there dedicated to such things. Having done various unmentionable things in my time, I can honestly say that sock-smelling has not been one of them.

You have never done voluntary (or the enforced) sock-smelling, you clearly never went to boarding school.

Well, if you ever change your mind just e-mail me. I'll make it worth your while. Don't be shy!

Come on you big tease - "spilleth the beans" - what be all these "unmentionable things".

You mean apart from voting for William Hague's Tories in 2001?

Well, don't forget to e-mail me. neilwelton@supanet.com :-)

Sometimes I slip up and have a tendency to unfortunately split infinitives.
